Lizzy crawls

How can it possibly be time for this?????

A (too long) cell phone video to document my little inchworm and her new-found mobility.

Great Day at school

On this, Jay's 9th day of The Two Year Old Class at preschool, we had a first--

No Timeouts!! It's just a little funny because we had not yet started timeout at home, so when he first got put in timeout at school, he thought it was new and neat. Then we would discuss it at home and he also thought that was neat...oy.

So, after spending Thursday afternoon until Tuesday morning repeating "be good at school" and "no timeouts" he finally got a good report.

Who knows what Thursday will bring, but today we went to Pet Smart after school to look at the kitties, fish, guine pigs, etc. as a treat for Jay's good behavior.

Another first-Lizzy sat in the "seat" of the cart for the first time. (we didn't plan this one,  Pet Smart carts are the smaller kind and her toes were definitely in danger if  she rode in her carrier.)

I just wanted to remember how big they seemed today. Time is flying!

Random thoughts on a sick day...

I can remember back in the 80's my mom had a lady named Marcy who would come to our house and do my mom's (fake) nails. I think Marcy also sold Kirby vacuums too. I was just thinking, man, I sure could use a Marcy. (which reminds me, I need to have the vacuum serviced.)

We're in countdown mode (sorta) for the big M-O-V-E. more like Joseph is here til just about bedtime every evening and I have already mentally moved.  Except physically we aren't there yet. It's not the best way to be.

I think in the blur of selling our old house, having a baby and life with two kids I had forgotten how busy Fall can be. It seems like everything fun I've wanted to do for the past few months is happening on Sept. 22- and I will likely be up past my eyeballs in boxes, unpacking and exploring the new house with the kiddos.

That is, if these two kiddos ever get better. They've both had runny noses and a cough on and off for 10+ days. I finally took both tithe doc today to get them better. We came home and changed into Halloween pj's and have been resting with the hope of being well on the road to recovery in the morning.

Getting a VERY busy 2 year old to rest is far more difficult than one would think. We've spent lots of time buckled into the booster seat slowly enjoying snack and strolled around the block looking for every cat, bird and butterfly in West-Central Alabama. Maybe it would be easier if either of them actually seemed like they felt sick, but they seem fine-just yucky noses and a little cough.

Which brings me to Halloween- I'm thinking Mickey and Minnie Mouse for their costumes this year. Jay is on board with being Mickey but he wants Mommy to be Minnie. (Woody and Jessie are also in the running if you ask Jay.) We'll see what they actually are when the big day actually gets here. It will be here before we know it!

School funny and the weekend

So, Thursday on the way home from Preschool, Jay says "I stand on a CLOCK today, Mommy!!"

Hmmmm. I thought they were learning about their bodies today....

Then we get home I find this.

Hilarious-his "clock" was the scale. I think he missed the scale and weight concept, but I like that he knew he did SOMETHING that was exciting.

I tried getting a cute pic of the kids in their Alabama gear during the game on Saturday. While not what I had in mind, I still think this is cute.

Oh, and we completed our first homework assignment for Preschool.

5.5

Lizzy's 5 (and a half)  months old!!

Such a joy this little gal is.

She's eating 3 meals in the high chair these days and taking 2 or 3 bottles. Napping three times a day, mostly.
It's a little harder to outline her schedule like I did for her brother as we are on the go so much more these days.

She giggles, goos and smiles all the time. Oh, and drools. and DROOLS, my how she does slobber.

Rolling over and over she gets frustrated when she is limited by the confines of the crib and pack and play.

She loves watching Jay and he loves talking to her and has learned is learning how to be a sweet big brother-making her smile and laugh and saying "No worry Lizzy, Mommy comin' " when she's crying or fussy.

She loves LOVES  the dogs and Precious has appointed herself to the role of Lizzy guardian. Much to Jay and Gus's dismay.

Thank HEAVEN FOR LITTLE GIRLS!! We just love  her to pieces!

oh so smart...

Earlier this summer I had a few Capri Sun training sessions with Jay. You know, because I'm super-duper smart and thought it would be good to "teach" him how to drink a Capri Sun rather than just expect him to do it right then fuss at him.

Well, obviously he's a pro now because today I was asking Mr. Grump what he did with his Capri Sun (thinking he had squished it out and thrown it in the floor) he wouldn't answer me...then I looked closely to see he had hidden it in his shirt.

What. a. look. So, just when I think I am oh-so-smart-mom-of-the-year, he still does what he wants. Just as it will always be. (Just in case I need a reminder later down the road.)
